Creating Representation of Diversity through Content Creation

The bike industry is starting to create media that states the intention to embrace the idea that the people who ride bikes come from all ranges and backgrounds. These content creators at the top hold the power to change the narrative of who belongs and the power to create more inclusive spaces and ideals across the industry.

Unfortunately due to the very small range of people that compromise the industry, the decision makers in these companies and organizations rarely reflect the new communities they are attempting to reach. This leads to the content being created only including a very narrow scope of what a cyclist looks like and often also leads to the tokenization of people outside of that scope.

This interactive workshop will teach creators guiding principles to use in order to craft captivating story driven outreach and marketing content and help them to develop tools that broaden the perspective of who should be represented while most importantly taking steps to avoid tokenization.
